Big Hero 6 Voice Cast Members Returning for Animated TV Series

Telling the fun yet emotional story of 14-year-old robotics genius Hiro Hamada was the 2014 Disney Animated film Big Hero 6. This 2014 big screen adaptation of a lesser-known Marvel comic made waves in theaters, leaving its mark as the third-highest grossing non-Pixar animated film from the Mouse House. Additionally, the movie went on to receive critical praise and even collected hardware from the 87th Academy Awards, where it won an Oscar for Best Animated Picture.

To the delight of many fans, it was announced last March that this beloved film will see new life as an animated TV series on The Walt Disney Company affiliate Disney XD channel. That’s the very same network that brings viewers the likes of Star Wars Rebels and Ultimate Spider-Man, in addition to several other highly-regarded animated TV shows.

Fans of the award-winning animated feature will also be pleased to hear that the film’s original cast will be returning to voice their respective characters. That’s right, Hiro (Ryan Potter), Baymax (Scott Adsit), GoGo (Jamie Chung), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), Alistair Krei (Alan Tudyk), Aunt Cass (May Rudolph), Heathcliff (David Shaughnessy), and Fred’s father (as voiced by the legendary Stan Lee) will all be returning for the story’s continuation on Disney XD.

However, it should be noted that a few familiar voices will not be lending their talents to the upcoming animated series – namely, Damon Wayans Jr. and T.J. Miller (who voiced Wasabi and Fred in the 2014 film, respectively). In addition to a number of returning voice actors, it has also been announced that the animated TV series iteration of Big Hero 6 will be acquiring a few new names too. Joining the aforementioned crew of familiars are Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Jenifer Lewis (Blackish), and Andy Richter.

It is never a surprise to hear that a Disney animated film is excellent – but perhaps due to the lesser-known nature of the original Marvel property which the film is based on, Big Hero 6‘s quality took a number of moviegoers by surprise. Simply put, Big Hero 6 is an excellent, family-friendly film that is well-deserving of its many accolade.

Any fan of the animated Big Hero 6 movie should be excited to hear that the majority of the film’s original cast is returning to voice their respective characters when the franchise makes its small screen debut on Disney XD. The TV show will also help to tide over those Big Hero 6 fans who are still holding out hope for a movie sequel to happen at some point, down the line.

Disney XD’s Big Hero 6 will premiere in 2017.
