Stranger Things Star Millie Bobby Brown Wants to Join The Walking Dead
Over the summer, Stranger Things became a certified pop culture phenomenon. The Netflix series hinged on ‘80s nostalgia, recalling sci-fi horror classics like Steven Spielberg’s E.T. and Ridley Scott’s Alien. Its spooky supernatural story quickly drew widespread acclaim from both critics and fans: hashtags were coined, parodies crafted, and fan art flooded the web. Thanks to its overwhelmingly positive reception, a second season is already underway, with plans to continue through several more.
Perhaps one of its biggest selling points was its impressive young cast. Though seasoned actress Winona Ryder gave it a high-profile pull, the show has proved a breakout for its batch of largely fresh-faced actors, giving them a platform to showcase their wide array of off-screen talents. Joe Keery (Steve) is in a rock band, Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Luke) both graced Broadway with big-stage vocals, and Millie Bobby Brown has a knack for both powerhouse songs and Nicki Minaj raps.
Brown, who played telekenetic, pre-teen heroine Eleven, also has her sights on another major role. During a panel at Rhode Island Comic Con, she revealed she’s been gunning for a part on apocalyptic megahit The Walking Dead. “There’s this one show I just want to be on so badly, I’ve tried everything to get on The Walking Dead. I don’t even care if I’m a zombie,” she said, according to ComicBook, though she also mentioned she’s interested in doing something “calmer and more soft, instead of hardcore.”

Brown has certainly proved she’s got the chops for a part in The Walking Dead. Back in 2014, she starred in U.K. drama The Intruders as a 9-year-old girl overtaken by a murderer’s soul, though she continuously fought to regain control of her body. Her turn in Stranger Things, too, flaunted her ability to channel a darker, creepier character, even though her goodness ultimately trumped the evil of her mad scientist grandfather. She could fit on either side of The Walking Dead’s human-zombie battle, whether it be as a feisty survivor or a flesh-hungry walker.
Still, it’s clear Brown has a number of roles on her mind. In October, she said she’s also looking to get into comedy. “I’d love to do a project where I’m funny,” Brown said during a panel at New York Comic Con, as Bustle reported. For now, she’s still very much committed to Stranger Things. Despite disappearing at the end of season 1, she’s already been confirmed to return for the next run.
