The Justice League Strikes a Pose in New ‘League Up’ Poster
The team of DC’s Justice League strike a strong pose in the newest banner for the upcoming Fall blockbuster, showing the super-powered beings (and Batman) united against an unseen threat.
Along with the four-minute sizzle reel, Warner Bros. also revealed a brand-new poster for the film at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The image featured the five main heroes of the film (Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg) standing in formation against a striking black background, with the tagline “You Can’t Save the World Alone” (with various parts of their official logos in the text). It’s a gloriously cool image that really sells the film.
A new promo for the film, courtesy of DC Comics, expands this image to show the team’s full body in a wider shot. Instead of the tagline of the previous poster, the team stands in front of the phrase “League Up,” accenting the role that the team has in saving the Earth and (probably) universe from Steppenwolf and his parademon minions.
It’s another simple but effective image that takes a minimalist approach to selling the various characters coming together. Of course, DC’s long-awaited answer to The Avengers franchise should sell itself, so putting the focus purely on the iconic characters is a good movie.
Unlike the Marvel posters, which can get a little cut-happy with Photoshop, these pieces of Justice League art have kept it simple so far. Still nowhere to be found is Henry Cavill’s Superman, as it seems to be a foregone conclusion at this point that the character will continue his Houdini act until the film is actually released in November (even though he’s been present in other recent marketing materials).
Justice League is still several months away, but with Summer movie season pretty much wrapped up, it’s likely we’ll start to see a more concerted push from Warner Bros. The SDCC trailer was just last month, so another is unlikely anytime soon, but the studio are sure to want to keep the DCEU team-up in audience’s minds, especially given the rather negative reports on the Joss Whedon-led reshoots that have been doing the rounds recently.
