Avengers 3: Chris Hemsworth Was ‘Weirdly Shaken’ Meeting Chris Pratt

Chris Hemsworth has admitted to being starstruck when he first met his Avengers: Infinity War co-star Chris Pratt. Hemsworth has been playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over five years now and has used the superhero role to become one of the biggest names in the business. He’s already filmed a trilogy of solo films and most recently filmed a third Avengers film, one that features arguably the most star-studded cast in movie history.

Pratt, meanwhile, is just beginning his MCU journey and has two Guardians of the Galaxy films under his belt, though he and the rest of his Guardians costars are joining Hemsworth in Infinity War. Since taking on the Star-Lord role, Pratt has had a meteoric rise through Hollywood, with his natural charm winning over audiences – and it appears that same charm was almost too much for Hemsworth to handle.

Hemsworth spoke to Elle about his career and the leading man persona he now has. One of the questions he was asked during the interview was when was the last time he was intimidated by another man. Hemsworth could’ve picked anybody, but recalled his first day working with the Guardians on Infinity War and Pratt’s charisma taking him aback:

The first time I really met Chris Pratt—and went on set with him and the Guardians—I was weirdly shaken. [Laughs] I don’t know why. He’s just so charismatic. And good at what he does.

Pratt is one of the most charismatic actors in the business, but it is still surprising to see it affect a fellow MCU hero. Hemsworth has worked with several potentially intimidating figures, including his MCU father Anthony Hopkins. Maybe part of Hemsworth’s reaction was due to the moment that he was experiencing. He isn’t just an actor in these films but also a fan of the entire universe, so stepping on the same set as the Guardians – some of the most popular MCU characters now – may have played a role.

Even though the majority of the population has yet to see what Thor’s interactions with the Guardians will be like, footage descriptions give a clear picture at what we can expect. With Thor taking on a more comedic approach with Thor: Ragnarok – after Hemsworth’s plea to have a Guardians-like tone to the film – it should come as no surprise that he would be a natural fit alongside the cosmic, ragtag group that is the Guardians of the Galaxy. Any weirdness that Hemsworth experienced personally was surely washed away quickly and hopefully, gives Thor and Star-Lord great onscreen chemistry together.
